Basic Training... Onward and Upward!

What is Basic Training?

It's an intensive course designed to teach you the skills you will need in your career, and build up your strength of character. It will help to make you physically and mentally prepared for any challenge.

Here's what to expect. You'll be up early ...very early. You'll do push ups, sit ups and chin ups. You'll run. You'll practice drill. You'll learn about weapons ...how to handle them, take care of them and how to use them. You'll be taught orienteering and how to live in the field under austere conditions. You'll learn First Aid and CPR. In short, you'll become a soldier. Soldiers work together, sleep together and eat together. They depend on each other, not just during Basic Training, but throughout their Military careers. Each soldier must meet exacting standards, maintaining their bunk and personal effects. That goes for the way the bed is made and the way the floor is swept. Everybody shares responsibility for the space.

Officers follow somewhat the same basic program as NCM's, but with the addition of leadership training: both theoretical and practical. You will practice these leadership skills with your peers. You will learn to put your subordinates first and yourself last. Officers are leaders, it is that simple.

You'll need some money to cover your personal expenses for the first few weeks until you get your first pay. Payday is twice a month, on the 15th and 30th and it will be deposited directly into your bank account, so if you don't have one, get one.

The key to surviving Basic Training is to keep everything in perspective. You are learning a new way of life. Listen. Take notes. Work hard. You can make it and become part of our team.
