4th Canadian Division

31 Canadian Brigade Group

The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry (Wentworth Regiment)

The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry - "The Old 13th" - is one of the oldest and most respected units in Canada. We're known as "Hamilton's Regiment". Formed in 1862, members of the RHLI ("Riley's") have served in Canada, and overseas during the Boer War, World Wars I and II, post-war Germany and Korea. More recently, the "Rileys" have served on United Nations and NATO missions.(Learn about our members deployed overseas)

In Canada, we were deployed during Winnipeg's Red River flood and the 1997 Ice Storm in eastern Ontario and Quebec. We were on stand-by at the dawn of the year 2000 to help in our region in case of any Y2K emergency.

Our heritage, including our Band, is part of the very roots of the city and region. "Citizen Soldiers" from the Rileys have served whenever called upon, and our many Battle Honours reflect our dedication to duty. Joining the RHLI makes this rich tradition yours, and with shared experiences, provides a strong bond with your fellow soldiers.
